have been a whirlwind.
Tuesday March 8th- Leave Austin, Texas
Wednesday March 9th- Arrive Abu Dhabi sans bike
Thursday March 10th- Visit the Mosque, wait until 1:00am for my bike but still a no show
Friday March 11th- Bike arrives 2 hours before check in.
Saturday- Abu Dhabi race
Unfortunately not the race I was hoping for and ended with my first DNF as a professional.
Sunday- Leave Abu Dhabi
Sunday p.m.- Arrive Singapore. Camped out in Terminal 2 for 10 hours. Felt a bit like Tom Hanks in the movie The Terminal.
Monday- Arrive Krabi, Thailand. Bike made it. Easy ride with B.
Tuesday- Photo shoot with sponsors (Avia, 2xu, John Cobb), e-mail Singapore 70.3 race director to see if I can get a start for the race
The race director e-mailed back and said that I could get a start since someone dropped out last minute. Now I just needed to ask Coach is I should race. His answer was of course yes but he didn’t know if I would be able to get in. Little did he know that I had already e-mailed the race director the day before!
Wednesday-More photo shoot with sponsors at the beach. Short run in the morning. Spent the day on the boat. Home by 10pm.
Thursday- More photo shoot with sponsors. Brick and afternoon swim.
Friday- Easy bike, packed biked, short swim. Leave Krabi, Thailand
Friday p.m.- Arrive Singapore. Eat at airport. Grocery shop at airport. Arrive at homestay at 8pm.
Saturday- pre race events for Singapore 70.3
Sunday- Singapore 70.3 race
2nd overall. It was a good effort all things considered. Of course, I would have liked the win, but it was good to see my fellow TeamTBB (TeamTBB USA) teammate Mary Beth Ellis take home 1st.
Monday- Leave Singapore. Arrive Krabi, Thailand
Now back at training camp ready to train hard hopefully uninterrupted!
Not the blog I had in mind to write but this gives you an idea why I haven’t blogged in a few weeks!
