Club La Santa, Lanzarote

Friday, April 17th, 2009

After being in the Philippines for a couple of months for some training, and after a couple of races on that side of the World, its time to come to Europe for a while!
Stephen and I would have gone to our home in Switzerland, but since the pool is closed for its annual clean, there is no point being there.

Therefore we came to Club La Santa in Lanzarote. Isabelle Janssons made it possible for Stephen and I to be here for the 6 weeks leading into Ironman Lanzarote. ThankYou Isabelle :)

It is great to be here! Club La Santa creates the perfect sporting environment and nice weather too. The facilities are perfect and on our doorstep. A great pool, a great gym, a great track and other sporting facilities, but I just stick to pool, track and gym! The island of Lanzarote has many amazing roads to ride. I have raced Ironman Lanzarote 2 times before but I have never noticed how magnificent a place it really is. Since we arrived here I have been really enjoying riding my bike. Dont worry Boss, I am not going around on my hoods looking at the views! ..but I have noticed the views a bit, ..much more than I do when I race!

We are staying in the accomm on site. They are fine little apartments! However, it was a bit of a shock when we arrived and noticed there was no TV! Help! Stephen and I like to watch TV!
But we are actually doing ok without. We train, eat and speak to each other more instead! We buy a newspaper too! ..however, the paper has to last us 3 days, since Stephen says it is too expensive to buy a newspaper every day! (..the euro is hard for us Brits right now! )

Ok, time to go ride,
Bella

bad day at my office

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Ironman South Africa 2009 turned out to be a bad day for me.
I did my best from the start, but struggled to be in strong form. Lucie took out the swim and bike amazingly fast! Well done Lucie! Very impressive.
I tried to stay as close as I could to her, but even still she took time out of me.
I worked so hard on the bike, with the added problem of dehydrating myself, by accident, turned my run into a disaster area. After 15km I was quite delirious and came to a halt. It is a horrible feeling to not finish. Anyway, I am not allowed to think about it, and I have to move on today!
I will get my body ready for the next.
Well done again Lucie, Well done Stephen who also had a hard day out there, but finished the day off with a 4th place. Well done James and Caroline too, great efforts on a very hot day!

ThankYou to everyone who supported me out there yesterday, it was very special to have so much support.
