Today I raced the Noumea international Olympic distance race. End result I came 10th. I knew I would have my work cut out for me against the short course specialists but that’s no excuse as cam brown and and pat vernay came 2nd and 4th.
I came out of the water in the lead pack but parts were quiet hard as they didn’t allow speedsuits and my suit had pockets for ironman and felt at times like I had dragsuit on.
I got dropped after 20km on bike by brown and vernay and eventual winner aussie Aaron Farlow which left me in between the front pack and the chase pack for the 2nd half of the bike. I’m pretty dissapointed with getting dropped by these guys but I always seem to struggle when the intensity is real high for some reason, I guess I’m a deisel kinda engine guy. Anyway, I know the pace was high as cam brown said after race he rates his ride as best ride he’s ever done averaging 330watts! Small consolation I guess although i want to be the one dropping this guy. I ran pretty well I thought for my run prep, I think I ran 36 or 37 worst case with no pain in my foot or acillies so I’m happy that this was a big step in puttting this injury behind me.
