2012: ready to take off ;-)

Monday, March 19th, 2012

The first training camp in 2012 is already history again and also since these 16 days on Gran Canaria my shape is getting better every day. I had some pretty good sessions during the last weeks and did even break some personal best times in some sessions. The weather in northern Germany is getting better and better. It has nearly not been raining at all for three weeks now and the temperatures are getting close to 15°C, which is really good for that time of the year.

Therefore it was time to get serious with the race planning for the upcoming season!

My season kick off will be the half Challenge on the Island of Fuerteventura on april 14th. The conditions should be like on Lanzarote, where I hade a quite good race last year.

Then there will be another 70.3 race in May, but I´m not quite sure yet if its going to be Ironman 70.3 Mallorca or the half Challenge Barcelona. I know both courses, so there won’t be a big difference. Just that Barcelona is dead flat and Mallorca really hilly.

The next race will be the new Green Hell Triathlon (24th of june) on the legendary “Nordschleife” of the Nuerburgring which is well known to all motor sports fans from several 24hr races! The run will take place on the Formula one course. In addition it will be the hardest 70.3 race on the globe with about 2900m of elevation. With my 64kg race weight this course should suit me to a total ;-) !

Up next will be the new 70.3 race in Haugesund/Norway (7th of July). I´m really looking forward to that one since I spend about 2 years of my life in Norway and have a lot of friends there to cheer me on!

And then the double Ostseeman/Cologne 226 will follow on the 5th of August and the 2nd of September. The goal is to be better than last year (1st and 3rd)! Then I´ll have a new built up for a late season Ironman.

Sounds like a good plan to me and I´m keen to get the first races in my legs!
