…So here we go my first post for our website. I try to quickly introduce myself to all TBB team fans and also to my new teammates.
I grew up in Prague and was involved in sports ever since I can remember. I went through few different sports like basketball or rowing before taking up triathlon when I was 15. This sport full of endurance, challenges, pain, hurdles and glory has completely absorbed me. I quickly learned to swim, ride and run and achieved some good results as a junior before starting to struggle with injuries. I went through stage where I was just swimming or racing on a bike. I graduated high school and decided to move away to Sydney, Australia to keep chasing my dream in becoming a champion in toughest sport in the world. I quickly realised how crazy it was to move across the world without any money, family or even being able to speak english. But “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger ” and it did and after while Sydney become my real home and beautiful place to train and live. Unfortunately not everything goes always according to how we plan it, so my triathlon career wasn’t really going well. I kept having injuries and last year I had my third foot surgery, so I haven’t done much running or racing, but I kept fighting and make sure that everyday I do the best I can to stay on the track and hang in there, because even after all the ups and downs I do believe that I got what it takes. And don’t get me wrong I have run fast marathon, swam 11km in the ocean or did several 200km plus bike races… I just never really managed to put it together yet and that is what I believe will change in 2010 after getting the great opportunity from Brett Sutton and Alex Bok to become part of the TBB team. I hope that soon I will be able to prove that I got what it takes to become a champion in this sport and that no matter who you are or where you come from, if you keep working hard and don’t give than everybody can do something special in their lives and achieve their own “Ironman” victory ! This year will be a “learning” year for me, I will need to be patience which is very difficult for me, because I am very ambitious and competitive. I come across a lot of people who are opportunists and they’re like, ‘If it happens, it happens.’ I’m not one of those. I’m a go getter. I am very excited to get the our first training camp and meet all the other team members and team staff so we can all get together well and help each other to set a strong base and go on to have a great season and 2010.
And also to all of you out there have a great 2010, be healthy, happy, train hard and smart. And don’t forget that it is never too late to go out there, have fun, keep fighting and make your dreams come true ! I look forward to keep you all updated with how are things going for me, the underdog on the TBB team, what’s new, what’s hot and what’s not in the Ironman jungle. Please feel free to come ask me anything you like or just to chat !
Enjoy whatever you are just doing and catch you later
!
