Since 2 weeks its sowing day-in, day out. Above I photographed the house where I live. As you can see my training program at the moment consists of shoveling snow 3 times a day for 1 hour each. We have up to -20 degree Celsius. We have so much snow that from time to time power supply is interrupted because trees couldn’t carry their burden of snow any more and crash into power lines. And we have so much snow, that our road maintenance department has got no salt and grid anymore to make the streets more safe. The next supply is expected in 2 weeks…
I try to make the best out of the situation: From all the shoveling I get strong shoulders, but I am a bit worried about the fitness of my legs. Running on the slippery surface of snow produces very different movements than normal running, and I have to be carefully to not injure myself. Some cross training as well: Last Thursday I was skiing, yesterday I did some gymnasics with my boy. Both great types of whole-body activities.
Nevertheless, its all about patience. I want to do a lot of training, but on some days I already have difficulties to make it to the pool since the roads are so bad.
Coming Wednesday I will escape the winter to Subic. I am wistfully looking forward to this change!
