Team Williams – IMNZ

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Ironman New Zealand is fast approaching, and even though I am not racing I have a strong family contingent to wave the flag.

My older brother Emlyn and my new sister in law Helen got married last week and decided that a good wedding gift to themselves would be to enter the IM :) They are true novices to the IM and real agegroupers. They only brought some bikes last October and Emlyn works 2 months on – 2months off in Qatar and Helen in London. The longest triathlon they have done is a sprint race, so they will be experiencing lots on the day:)

Also racing is my twin brother Bevan, he is a powerhouse on the bike and I have let him in on some Sutto secrets about swimming so he is coming along well. He’s done his prep the hard way, working on a dairy conversion in Brazil for long hours each day and then going training into the night. Makes what i do look a lot soft, train-eat-sleep-internet and repeat.

I have been back in NZ for a week for my bro’s wedding so it has been good to crank some training with them and catch up with the family.

I am back to Subic on Tuesday for some more Sutto training and a build up to IM China in April

Whats happening in Subic?

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Apart from the training in the last week some interesting things of note……

- A monkey entered our kitchen and decided he would like to try out our oranges, lucky our park ranger James was on hand to show him the door

- We are going to change Sir Manny’s name to Sir Jamie Oliver, his Cuban cooking skills are pretty good, his mum has done well

- We have watched the movie “Blades of Glory” three times

Apart from that not much else happening in the house, abit of card playing and alot of TV time :)

Back in Subic

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Well, the months have flown by and I am back in Subic for another camp. After a little flight, a couple of different taxis and a bus trip I made it back. The last few days have been pretty relaxed, meeting some new team mates and soaking up the sun.
It dosent feel as hot as last time, but I am sure it will once we get to the run track :)

One thing I love about Subic is the fruit you can get, the Mango’s are the best I have ever tasted, and the apples are super crunchy and you can get all sorts of nice juices from the local market.

The roads here are also super smooth which makes a nice change to back in NZ

Another update soon
