Under the Doc’s instructions I have been reading some Arthur Lydiard books and thought I would share some my favourite qoutes

THE FACTS ON FOOD: More nonsense has been written on for athletes on food than any other subject…………Mother nature tells their bodies what they require and they eat accordingly.

WHAT HAPPENS INSIDE: To become a fully understanding runner or good coach, it is necessary to understand the fundamentals of physiology, psychology and athletic mechanics. But to become engrossed in any one of these subjects can spoil both runner and coach.

KEY TO CONDITIONING: Only recently, one of them (Lydiards athlete) ran 9 miles in the morning before competing in a marathon race because he needed thirty five miles running that day to compete the weekly milege.

More to come, stay tuned

Ironman China has come and went. I had a tough day out there but have learnt alot from the race.

The highlight of the day for me was seeing Tereza leading the womens race and the other girls cranking along.

Joeclyn was still in form at the awards yesterday but i think her race was starting to catch up with her this morning :)

Im looking forward getting back to NZ for a few weeks of rain and cold

Off to China

Training camp in Subic has come to a end for me and I am off to IM China in a few days time.

Training has been going well and I am looking forward to testing my patience and form at the race next weekend. The temperature has started to increase here which has been good for the acclimatisation training, after last camp the body felt alot more efficent when it got back to the cooler climate of New Zealand.

I feel like a bit of a novice as this will be my first race overseas, and we also have a couple of debut IM’ers in the team. So im sure we will all be learning lots.

After IM China I go back to NZ for a month then off to Swiss for some mountain and altitude training.

Yesterday some of us lucky athletes got to have a road trip to Manilia to get our Chinese Visa stamped for our trip to IM China.

We arrived to the embassy with about 300 other Phillipino’s waiting for a visa also!
luckly our trusty travel agent had orgainsed some one to get in line first thing in the morning so the waiting time wasn’t to painful.

I had my interview and managed to answer the two questions correctly,
When are you going to China?
Why are you going to China?

The best bit of the trip was next, lunch at a mexian restaurant. Zach was pretty hungry by this stage and ordered 4 meals and i think ate a bit too fast as he was looking worse than after a hard bike.

Then another fun trip home to Subic.
