Under the Doc’s instructions I have been reading some Arthur Lydiard books and thought I would share some my favourite qoutes
THE FACTS ON FOOD: More nonsense has been written on for athletes on food than any other subject…………Mother nature tells their bodies what they require and they eat accordingly.
WHAT HAPPENS INSIDE: To become a fully understanding runner or good coach, it is necessary to understand the fundamentals of physiology, psychology and athletic mechanics. But to become engrossed in any one of these subjects can spoil both runner and coach.
KEY TO CONDITIONING: Only recently, one of them (Lydiards athlete) ran 9 miles in the morning before competing in a marathon race because he needed thirty five miles running that day to compete the weekly milege.
