Training Update!

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

So its that time of year again, where alround amibitions are high and spring camp is just around the bend!

For the past week, I’ve been training with the newlywed iron-couple Bayliss! They were looking very pale in the first few days, but now, they are getting some color! But still have some ways to catch up to me!

Steve has done a good job of keeping me honest in the swim, as I have return the favor by talegating him on the run! As for the bike, well its been a threesome around the hilly Subic Bay forest and as you might have guess, we push the “heavy” gears ;)

The majority of our training is to prep our 3 events before camp starts. Of which means that we are doing some “tripple M” training on the run and bike! And of course, we paddles up and down the cool Brent pool and dont leave much time in between reps.

Speaking fo the pool, its cool, of which compels us to get in slowly and then swim it up and down to warm up and stay warm! That Steve looks very funny with his rubber Blue 70 swim cap!

Speaking of Blue 70, they are our new sponsors on board and I also learned that the Blue 70 brand name stands that 70% of planet earth is covered in blue water!

Consistency doesn’t consist of black nor white. It can amplify positives and negatives. Some call it gray, that it doesn’t take risks, but is seldom beaten deep down.

Sometimes, consitency is the sum of overcoming obstacles, all the while delivering another, reliable result. Forcing balance and to maintain the average that has been previously set.

Consistency, whatever you truly are, youre the theme of my 2009 campain.

Subic Bay 2009!

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

The bay is healthy and prospering steadily. I’ve been based here for almost a year now and I can vividly see the transformations and the standstills….

So the transformations, more hotels and choices for food! Yes, lots of restos to chose from that will please taste buds of the majority of the continents! Competition in between hotels have made then “up” their ante by lowering prices or adding some extras to the menu ;) And the place to adventure the ocean is growing faster than a jeepney going to the Aiport!

The same old is the wind, the consistent sun and the high elbows at the mini stop line ups.

Theres also the Korean national Baseball team, here once again, starting their spring camp in the bay. I see them early in the AM, running from their accomodation to the baseball field and then, it kinda seems like they just stay there at the field, ALL day! Then run back at sunset…

Inside the gate, its all Korean buisiness, outside the gate, majority of Indian underground affairs and the Americans run whatever flys, floats or goes very FAST!

Every day the sunlight is getting longer, days are getting warmer.

My new and old allies will trickle in the bay very soon, to prep our storming of the triathlon world.

Come to Subic, by the bay, where East meets West!

My New Avia Kicks!

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

HElloooooo last night I got in the mail my new Avia running shoes!

Like most people who know me, I was souper STOKED!

Its was like a 2nd x-mast! I got them rigth away at home and went for a run right away around the block with all 3 pairs! I felt like a basketball player with a shoe deal!

So this morning, I had to do the monegetty set, which is arguably my favorite run set. So there I ran not on the side of the road, but in the middle of the road to fully enjoy the new shoes :)

No cars or golf carts bothered me this morning, cause I was at one with the shoes!

Thanx Avia! And I hope my training mates will feel the same feeling when they get theirs in the mail.

Its like, new training gear turns me on more than my grilfriend;)
