Hey well the pictures say it most.

My race was good, ran well over the varying terrain!
I was racing an other guy for the first half or so.
And I decided to “shadow” him about 5m behind.

So he had to take the decisions on where to put the proper footing.
I did the same.
Which line he took.
I did the same.
When he slowed down.
I did the same.
When he accelerated.
I did the same.

Then he started that “AAHHH!!!!” thing that local athletes do here.
Not sure what its supposed to do, but its very popular.
I took it as weakness and ATTACKED and never saw the guy until the awards!

Im getting better at trail running.
On how to modulate the length of my stride over different terrain!
And when to grab on trees for a quicker and turn ;)
Sorry trees…

Joyette had a solid “comeback” race.
Cause she hyper-extended her elbow in November.
She took the lead near the end of her race.
And thus gained heaps of confidence going into X-Terra Cebu.

I would also take a short note to thank Sun Rise Events.
They put on one hell of a race.
You definitively got more that the entry fee was worth.

The course, the post race packages, the free drinks afterwards.
The Philippines is definitively a “heaven” for trail runs.
Versus the typical run races at The Fort.
Which are jam pack and all about making profit.
To many runners, pollution, cars, late night/early morning drunks, ect.

It was like I was playing a “healthy” video game out there.
Constantly focusing on the next few seconds and meters in front.
UP – DOWN – LEFT – RIGHT – JUMP – BRIDGE
The word I can use is EXHILARATING.

Im now officially addicted to trail run races =)
