A TUFF DAY AT THE OFFICE

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

I write to while sitting on my hotel room couch finally able to relax, after a week of complete stress preparing for Ironamn Oz!

The week didn’t start well, with a chest infection on Monday, anitbiotics on Wednesday, I was hoping I would be ok for race day. I managed to kick it on Friday but still definately felt the after effects of it today.

My swim went great, by my account, coming out with the second pack of the men but also joined by Miss CW.

Onto the 3 lap bike and the 1st lap I lost 3mins over 60km to the leader CW which I was quite pleased with as I felt shocking but this is common for me in the 1st hour so promised myself not to panic and just build into it.

And this is what I did holding my own on the 2nd lap with CW not putting any time into me. The last lap I felt really strong and was pleased not to blow up at the 120km mark like I usually do, so obviously the Docs training is working.

I got off the bike in 2nd – 10mins down with another Swiss girl Caroline and we had over 20min lead until the next girl, which was comforting as I felt very average running out and new it was going to be a long day.

The run was 3 laps with one massive hill each lap, I felt ok on the flats and was moving along well but when I hit that hill every lap I was going backwards doing the Cliff Young shuffle!

I managed to finish second with a good 15mins in front of 3rd, and fellow Team TBB Abi in 4th (well done Abs) it was a tough day!!!!

It was good to come away with a podium, a spot for Hawaii and an Australian Title for the 2nd time.

Thank you to everyone who cheered so hard for me, I couldn’t have done it without your help and support you guys where amazing, and thanks to IMG, particularly Shane Smith who always looks after us pro’s so well!

My next race will probably be Busselton 70.3 if Doc agrees, or maybe my punishment will be another Ironman in the near future! Over and out…off to Hogsbreath to feed my face!!! and get plastered…..just kidding lol ha ha x x Be

IRONMAN AUSTRALIA

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Oz Ironman is two days away and the nerves are starting to set in!

I am fighting off a last minute cold which is a good sign that my body is rested and ready to race!

My body other than that, feels great I feel strong and definately fitter and faster than this time two years ago!

The weather is set to be rainy and 80% humididty with 30km winds, along with a tough course it will be a very challenging day out there for everyone!

Even more challenging is the womens field with Chrissie Wellington and Michellie Jones who need no introduction, its going to be a grat day for me if I can perform at my best and really challenge them!

So with 3 other team members in Jonno,Abbie and Cam our team TBB racing to do us proud, hopefully this time sunday i will be writing with a podium,a spot for Hawaii and possibly an Aussie title…bring on Sunday!

Over but certainly NOT out!
