Oi Pessoal,

Hi There,
Last weekend I was in Clearwater – FL, to race the Ironman 70.3 worldchampionship.
Coming with a top 5 position finisher of last year I was confident in another good result once again this year, however I lost some time in the last 500m of the swimming and adding my bad T1 it puts myself just behind the main group. What usualy in another races it does not make that diferance because the race is non- drafitng rule, but, in a flat course like that it was enougth to lost the pacing and not be able to keep with the front guys.
I tried to push as much as I could on during the bike but I still started the run more than 3 min down to the leaders. I played smart on the run and put an very nice negative split but was not anough to bring me between the top position and I and up on 17th place.
I was a tough day however with a very nice leasson where the race shows me that few seconds of any mistake even in the begining of the race can cost a lot but the end of the day.

kona-bike1

Oi Galera,

hotel complex

Nós amamos ter vocês aqui! ( we love to have you here!)

Hi Everyone,
After couples I.T.U races in US I came back to Brazil to race the National Championship in Rio de Janeiro.
That was the second stage of three races where the athlete who scores more points It will take the National Title for 2009.
As I won the first race in April everybody knew if I would strike another good result I would have the championship on my hands.
With 30 Pro athletes on the start line the race looks to be very competitive, however I just had a perfect day and put together a very good performance all the long, after a good start on the beach and a very sprint in the first 100meter on the water I just settle myself in the feet of the leader, the pace was very strong for the first 300meter when myself and another three athletes got a little gap on the group.
Close to the second boil It was seeming the pacing start to get slower that was when I attacked with my Brazilian training partner Marcos Vinicius and both of us just leave all the other competitor behind to start the bike part with a nice gap to the main group.
We know how to work together on the bike very well and that just made the distance between us and the pack just increase. So by the time we got on T2 we had enough time to not worry any more with the other, the race it would be just between us. I could feel Marcos very tired right on the begging and use that on my advantage to push even more my pacing. After couple Kilometers He was not able to keep up with me anymore and I started to run solo to the cross the finish line once again in first position and pretty much secure a the National Brazilian title for this year once I got a comfortable leading on the points table.

Results:
1 – Reinaldo Colucci SP 1h54:12
2 – Marcos Vinicius SP 1h55:49
3 – Adriano Sachetto MG 1h56:55
4 – Diogo Sclebin MG 1h58:18
5 – Bruno Matheus SP 1h58:32

Women:
Pamella Oliveria ES 2h17:00
Vanessa Gianinni SP 2H18:48
Fernanda Garcia SP 2H20:42

ITU World Championship circuit

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Hi everyone,
Just few hours ago I was racing here in Washington my first ITU race since Beijing oliypic games.
It feels quite strage to be back to the circuit but after a while it gets normal once all the faces around are still the same.
Because I don´thave many point in the ranking at the moment my start number was very high what means I will be one of the last ones to pick a position in the pontoon to start the swimming.
The 1500m swim was in a river and because of the bad wheater in last few day it was full of robish as tree pieces on the chanel whose it was crossing one of the side of the pontoon. Of course this side was were the last positions were lefting and where I started the race.
I tried to do a good start but I kept hiting all this robish what made me breack feel strokes and put me behind the pack.
Even with a bad swim I was able to get on the main pack with out problems, however 5 guys were ahead us and by the end of the bike there had a gap of more than 2minutes.
I had a good T2 and start the run with the leaders of my pack, but after 1500m my body really hurt with that fast pacing what I guess it is not that used anymore, it took my few km to put my everything together again and I end up running my last 5km very well and picked up few position back, however I was not able to catch up with the front guys anymore and I finished on 19th place.
Now I will try to correct the some detail to have a better race at Des Moines next weekend.

ironman-09-iii

Hi people.
Last weekend I was racing in Florianopolis the race that I considered the most important in my season until now: “Ironman Brazil”.
As always the days before this race were quite busy because the media coverage it is more than what we are used too and also in such long race as this one there are much more detail to be taken care, but slowly everything was set up and I could rest well before the race.
The weather condition for the race day was the big question before the race once the first cold winds of the year were just hitting the region and that could bring the temperature very low very quickly, however the day on the race was cloud but warn enough to be nice to everyone.
I had a very good start on the swimming and after couple hundred meters I was just on the feet of the leader where I stayed pretty much to end of 3.8.km swim with out problems.
Right after T1 I got the leading of the race and I started to ride solid but under control. Around 40km mark the argentine Eduardo Sturla caught me and started to push the pace vey hard for 20km, I was suffering a bit to hold that speed but after some while the pace started to slow down and I could ride again comfortable.
I rode right behind Eduardo until 25km to go when he got a little gap on me and he used that to attack and get some time ahead before the marathon. I exited T2 around 5 minutes behind but I was confident I still could put a nice pace and fight for the victory and I did that for the first half, however after 21km my legs started to feel very dead and they were not smoothing nicely as before, so the distance between me and Eduardo just increased what I could see with 10km to the end that it was impossible to get back to him so I just took easier to guarantee my second position and my Hawaii slot.
Even with out the victory on the race I am pretty happy with my day, I know the winner put together an amusing performance what made my day very hard, however my slot to race in Kona this year is confirmed and I am looking very forward to race my first time put there.

Ola galera,

One week to go

With one week to go before Brazil Ironman I already did all the work I should do to prepare myself to this race. I feel very fit and for sure this year is the one I could dedicate more time to train for this race.
To work a bit my speed and also make some cash I was last weekend on Brasilia to race an Olympic distance race, as usually a race like this become so “short” with all the long session we do to train for an IM race, so I could push all the way long from the start to the end, with a good swimming I jump o my bike in 3rd place and with my feet still out of the bike shoes I attack very hard to gain a gap on the pack and ride away. I start the run almost 3 minutes ahead the main group but I still felt very good to go hard until I crossed the finish line to take the victory.
After the race I came back straight to my training where my sessions this week surprise me a lot what makes me very confident in a good race next Sunday in Florianopolis.

Last weekend I was racing in Wildflower.
It is not too far from Brazil if we compare with Asia or even some places of Europe, but my trip to get there was quite long if we add all the driving plus flights time, however I had couple good day over day to rest well.
Everybody when I ask before the race keep telling me how demanding the course was with all the hills on the bike and on the run. On the race day I could feel it by my own what exactly they were talking about, I exited the water few second behind the main group but with less than 10km on the bike I was already in touch with the leaders.
I was felling very, very strong to go up hill how ever for some reason I was struggling to keep up with the guys on the down hills, so every time I build ahead the guy on the hills they were taking back to go down.
Anyway I kept up with the guys almost until T2 when they just put a little gap on me, by the time I was getting my bike on the rack they had pretty much exited to the run. That actually was not too bad because I could start the half marathon on my own pace and slowly start to build up. After couple miles I started to get some position back and by mile 6 I was in second position with just Andy Potty ahead me. However the hilly course took a lot from my legs and I was not able to keep the same pacing to the end, so I lost one position to Eneko Lanos by mile number 9 and he slowly opened the a gap to me finishing few second ahead.
I was not 100% prepare to race a half ironman once I am in my heaviest part of my training to IM Brazil, so… I am very, very happy to reach a podium in this race.

Brazilian Champs

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Last Sunday 05th of April I was in Belo Horizonte to race the first stage of the Brazilian Olympic Distance Championship.
This year the championship will be made in three races when the athlete with more points in all the events will take the title.
In a very Sunny morning we were line up at the “ lagoa dos Ingleses” to start the swimming . The Field was very full of good swimmer as Paulo Miashiro who represented the National Team in Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
With a good start I did not have much drama to put myself between the first positions where I stayed to the end of the swimming. The bike course was very hilly and demanding, and to use that on my advantage I push the pacing right after the T1 and just my team mate from São Carlos, Marcos Vinicius Fernandes was able to go with me.
We rode very strong all the way and slowly we start to get a comfortable leader of around 2:30 to the main group.
After one Marcos’ mistake at the T2 I could start the run in front alone where I keep pushing the pacing to the end to guarantee the victory in this first event of the Championship.

Oi pessoal,
