First, a big THANK YOU on all TBB member in Singapore. You guys did a awesom job the last few weeks!!!
Yesterday morning, I had my last ride in Krabie and now I`m in Singapore (ok it was already yesterday becauce I`m now in Abu Dhabi) and get my bike ready for Abu Dhabi. I just love my new Cervelo P4.
I flew over from Singapore to Colombo to Abu Dhabi. A bite a different flight - on board, it was a atmosphere like on an Indian bazaar, missing was only the flying chickens… I guess some of them flown for the first time. So it was not surprising if some sitting up from the seat and wanted to leave the plane although we`re still with 100km/h on the landing ground…
Now Abu Dhabi. I`m so lucky. I god a realy nice homestay… and I dont have to wear a tarboosh :-).
After a few prayers at 5a.m this morning :-o, I had a ride. The traffic is perilous, the racecours at the moment a highway and the driver dont know how to handle it, if there is a bike on the road. So, I made my choise and swap over to the footpath…
Some more pictures and news tomorrow, cheers from the desert, Xena

I dit it … wow! Today I can celebrate my first 70.3 Ironman victory (ok, it is not a big party on, but I`ve bought me a large family pizza just for myself and I`ll enjoy it tonight).
In the Geelong newspaper yesterday, they always spoken of a “re-match between Switzerland and Warriner’s Caroline Steffen (re-match after my 2nd place in NZ, 18 sec. behind Sam). This made me a little nervous, and the numbers of hours sleep the night before the race, you can count them on 4 fingers. At 7a.m the race start. I said to myself: “do never look back, simply make your own race, give everything and a little more and if you have a good day, it will be enough and you can get the victory and lifting up the trophy at the end. And it was enough

Perhaps also because of the adrenalin shock how I got when I swam in to a swarm of jellyfish. In this sek. I was not sure how dangerous these little creatures are and if I’m going to die in the next 10sec. now … but nothing happened, and so I left the water just behind Sam and Lisa in 3th place. On the bike, I was disposed to leave the girls and made a gap of 5min. This 5min lead, I was able to keep up until the end of the 21km run and so… with a new record and a big lead, I celebrating and enjoy the finish line.
Now I`ll get my pizza and make good a few hours sleep

Cheers from Geelong, Caroline

A G`day from the Sunny Coast. I`m a newbie in Team TBB and like to introduce myself just quick. My name is Caroline Steffen. I grew up in a small village in Switzerland called Spiez. A small town surrounded by mountains and beautiful landscape. Some say: “Yes, I know Spiez. I`m passed by train when I’m gone skiing”…
When i was 12years old, I started with sport. Once a week I went to the swim and this just because, I was allowed to leave the religions lessons 15min earlyer to catch the bus. Which is now 18 years ago and it has changed a lot. In the time between, I was 10 years a member of the Swiss Swimming- and 2 years a member of the Swiss Cycling Nationalteam. Won 17 Swiss Champion gold medals in the pool and 1 on the Road. A two days adventure race in 2005 brought me closer to the triathlon, specifically to the long distance.
2008, I wanted to registrate for a race as an age group, but i was after the deadline and the only option to get a start was to start as an PRO. I finished this Ironman race, to my surprise, on the 3th rank and got therefore a place in my third Nationalteam, Swiss Triathlon. Sometimes everything changes quickly!
Since last February, I`m currently reside in Australia on the Sunshine Coast together with my partner David Dellow.
Team TBB: My first triathlon team and I`m looking forward to sharing the common experience and challenge. I’m still young in this sport. So, I think I can benefit a lot and at the same time I hope to give something back to team.
C ya soon in Krabie
