Amazing people in Lanzarote.

Thanks Bob Foy for the photo.

Thanks Bob Foy for the photo.

Well there is my wife Bella, she is amazing. What she did on Saturday was a courageaous effort. To hold off the 2 girls behind her when all her legs wanted to do was stop was just brilliant, I am incredibly proud of her!

Now apart from my amazing wife. We have met so many wonderfull people while here in Lanzarote. So many people have wished us well and said such nice things to us both, we have both been genuinly touched by lots of peoples kindness and generosity towards us, our whole time here in Lanzarote.

People in the Green team at Club La Santa, athletes training here on the island, athletes racing the Ironman, family of athletes, spectators here on holiday, so many people with kind words and encoragement for both of us.

A big thank you to all of you!

I guess we all do the Ironman for all sorts of different reasons.
For instance we met the lady who finished as the last women across the finish line, we met her in the spa yesterday afternoon. She and her friends were very lovely towards Bella and I and interested in what we do. But to me, her story was much more insparational. She had some very emotional reasons for doing this race, and listening to her story yesterday, It struck me what an amazing achievement she had accomplished by getting around the Ironman course here in Lanzarote. Well done to you!

In the lava fields. A very nice road and incredible views!
In the lava fields. A very nice road and incredible views!

The weather has really changed this last week, compared to our first week here.  The wind has died down, the sun has come out and it is now hot hot (not quite hot enough for 3 hots though, I’ll save the 3 hots for Krabi)

So Chelsea won the premiership, unfortunately I haven’t seen any of it since leaving Krabi (we had premier leauge on TV all the time), but I have been following it in the paper. The Sun (a british news paper) has done a very good report on the last matches of the season and a round up of the season, the special awards are very funny.  They are quite rude, the Best Chants of The Season are very funny.

Fulham play in the Europa Cup final tonight, they are showing that in the bar, I may be in bed though and won’t watch.

Then FA cup final on Sunday. Could Portsmouth win?? Stranger things have happened!

Then the World cup in South Africa starts soon after. I predict an England win on penalties against France in the final. Can that happen? I haven’t checked the draw! It might be South Africa in the final against England, yeah right!

Hot hot hot in Lanzarote

Desending in Lanzarote. One needs a Wind stopper for the head and cross winds, to keep the chill off.

Desending in Lanzarote. One needs a Wind stopper for the head and cross winds, to keep the chill off.

However, I dont think it is hot here in Lanzarote. With the wind behind it can feel quite warm, but with the wind in your face it can get quite chilly, especially when a bit sweaty. Yesterday, Bella and I did a run race here which Club La Santa organise each week. There were mainly Brits and Danes doing it. At the end of the race one of the Brits came up to me and said “wow, you ran well out there, especially in that heat today”
I thought that was funny! As to me it was not hot! ..But then I have come from the Sauna that is Krabi, Thailand and he had come from the fridge that is Reading, England:) It is all relative I guess!

No TV and no good internet, so I am afraid I have not been watching any TV programmes or movies,  I tried to make up for that fact on the flight over, I watched “The Blind Side” that was good; then “The invention on Lying” that was also good.  Then I watched a few episodes of an American show, I can’t remeber the name, it was with Tim Roth (he’s a good actor) and he was a body language expert and could tell when people where lying or hiding something.

My entertainment for a couple of weeks is the British News papers, and some Books:)
