Taking a year off school for me meant saying goodbye to my school mates, focusing on training fulltime. When I leave soon for the training camp in subic i will be leaving a fairly sheltered environment. I will have to face being away from my family.I will have to be self reliant.I must deal with the fear, the anxiety and the dissapointments.
But most importantly i will have the freedom to be myself, to find my trueself and to realise what i really want.It may not always be a smooth ride but with hardwork and determination I know anything is possible.
This is my journey……

The Hulk is a fictional superhero character, the emotional and impulsive alter ego of the withdrawn and reserved Dr Bruce Banner. It took a gamma ray blast to cause the change from Dr Banner into the Hulk and subsequent transformations are triggered by anger. The hulk is capable of performing immense feats of strength.
At first it didn’t sink in, me the skinny boy from Singapore why did doc one morning call me the Hulk? As the rest of the guys also started calling me by that name it slowly become a familiar tune as the camp moved on. I kind of got used to it. I am in person reserved and withdrawn , something like Dr banner but I am also impulsive and emotional like the Hulk so maybe some logical reasons why doc chose this name for me was because he saw the green in my eyes as I faced doing the surprise run that morning at rookie camp. I am confident that doc will have many more surprise runs and black Wednesdays planned during the upcoming heat camp and you may not be surprised if that triggers another transformation process…..

Hello. Just a short introduction about myself. My name is Travis or some of you guys from rookie camp may know me as “the hulk”. I think I’ve meet a few of you guys in March last year when I came to Subic for 3 days with my dad. I’m 16 years old, still studying actually but I off school for the year. That doesn’t mean that the textbooks and exam papers are kept locked up in the dusty book cabinet. I still got my exams to study for. Anyway it isn’t that bad really. I rather enjoy the combination of studying and training. I am very honored to be part of the biggest triathlon team in the world and I’m grateful for being given a chance to be on the team as a development athlete.

I am definitely looking forward to meeting everyone at the Subic camp in February.
